Market context at 00.12 CEST. Bitcoin trades at $62,198, 3.5% below its 24-hour high and 0.6% above its 24-hour low. Binance shows $1,351,887,308 in 24-hour BTCUSDT spot turnover. Its futures venue reports 106,974 BTC in open interest. That is a live measure of unsettled futures positions. Funding is 0.010%. Sources: Binance spot, Binance futures and Binance funding.
Why the Bitcoin CPI test matters now
CoinDesk’s latest week-ahead calendar puts U.S. inflation at the center of the next crypto session. Core CPI is expected at 0.3% month over month. Headline CPI is listed with a monthly estimate of -0.1%. Those numbers matter. Bitcoin has spent weeks moving less on crypto-native news and more on U.S. rates.
The setup is narrow. A cooler reading would give traders a cleaner reason to price easier policy. A hotter reading would make the $60,000 area the first obvious test. The market is already leaning on it after Monday’s slide.
That is the useful part of this story for U.S. overnight readers. The data lands before the cash equity session, not after it. Crypto will show quickly whether traders think the inflation print changes the July rate path.
Open interest keeps the move fragile
The CryptoFocus calculation is simple. Binance spot turnover over the last 24 hours was 21,520 BTC, while BTCUSDT futures open interest stood at 106,974 BTC. Open interest was about 5.0 times the spot BTC volume on the same venue.
This does not predict direction by itself. It does show that leverage is large compared with the latest spot flow. If CPI surprises either way, futures exposure can turn a macro headline into a fast liquidation move.

CoinDesk’s live markets coverage called Monday’s drop below $63,000 a leverage flush inside a month-long range. Its later market note added another layer. Spot selling pressure may be fading, but recovery still needs fresh demand. That leaves the CPI print as a timing test, not a full bull case.
ETF flows help but do not settle the case
The softer detail for Bitcoin bulls is ETF demand. CoinDesk reported about $197.4 million of net inflows into U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs last week. That was the first positive week after eight weeks of outflows. That breaks the worst flow pattern, but one week is still thin evidence.
The market cap picture is also mixed. CoinGecko puts Bitcoin’s market value near $1,245,293,404,746 and the total crypto market near $2,222,546,347,065, with Bitcoin dominance at 56.0%. The largest coin is still carrying the market. It is not getting much help from altcoin risk appetite tonight.
A CPI relief rally would be stronger if it pulled more than Bitcoin with it. Solana, XRP and Ethereum are all in the same top-10 basket, but today’s setup still starts with BTC. BTC is the asset most tied to ETFs, macro positioning and U.S. liquidity.
What U.S. and global traders watch next
For U.S. traders, the clean line is $60,000. For global holders, the bigger issue is liquidity while oil, rates and equities react to the same CPI number. The earlier Waller rate-hint move showed how fast crypto can reprice when the Fed path changes.
European readers get a second angle. A CPI shock would hit euro-dollar pricing before the European morning is over. That can feed into crypto pairs on regulated EU platforms. MiCA does not reduce market risk. It mainly decides where investors can trade and how products are supervised.
There is also a treasury-stock link. Bitcoin proxy names remain sensitive to BTC and the cost of capital. That is why the recent Strategy risk debate still belongs in this macro story. A stronger dollar and higher yields would pressure that trade before on-chain signals change.
What we watch next
---
108:30 ET CPI release: the first trigger for Bitcoin liquidity before Wall Street opens.
2$60,000 BTC: the nearby level that would show whether dip buyers are still active.
3Binance funding: still positive at 0.010%, so long exposure has not vanished.
4ETF flows: last week's $197.4 million inflow needs follow-through to matter.
5Fed testimony: another rates headline can hit the same trade later in the day.
