Bitcoin oil shock is back in the market after BTC slipped below $64,500 during Monday U.S. trading. Cointelegraph tied the move to renewed doubt over a Strait of Hormuz reopening, while WTI crude briefly traded near $80.90. The ETF bid still matters, because U.S. spot Bitcoin funds took in a reported $865.3 million last week. The overnight read is direct: macro stress hit the tape first, but institutional flow kept the next battleground near $65,800.
Wat je moet weten
1BTC fell under $64,500 after renewed Strait of Hormuz uncertainty lifted oil prices.
2Cointelegraph cited WTI crude near $80.90 and almost 5% higher during Monday trading.
3U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $865.3 million of net inflows last week, according to Farside data cited by Cointelegraph.
4Live Binance data put BTC at $63,929.56, about 2.24% below its 24-hour high.

Market context at 02.04 CEST. BTC traded at $63,929.56 on Binance, 2.24% below its 24-hour high of $65,391.14 and 0.19% above the low. Binance BTCUSDT spot turnover was about $880.5 million. Binance BTC futures open interest stood at 106,204.747 BTC, worth about $6.79 billion. Source: Binance and CoinGecko.

Bitcoin oil shock meets ETF demand

The fresh catalyst came from the oil market, not from a Bitcoin-specific failure. Cointelegraph reported that BTC hit $64,447 on Bitstamp as U.S. stocks opened lower.

The same report cited comments from Iran’s deputy speaker Ali Nikzad. He said the Strait of Hormuz issue had no military solution, according to Al Jazeera coverage quoted by Cointelegraph.

That matters because oil can feed inflation expectations. Higher inflation risk can tighten the market’s view of Federal Reserve policy and pressure risk assets.

The flow cushion is real but smaller than leverage

The ETF number is strong in isolation. Cointelegraph, citing Farside Investors, put last week’s U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows at $865.3 million.

The original CryptoFocus comparison is the scale test. That inflow equals 12.7% of live Binance BTC futures open interest by notional value.

It is large enough to matter. It is not large enough to erase a macro shock when futures desks cut risk at the same time.

Why $65,800 is the line

Cointelegraph cited analyst Michaël van de Poppe on the $65,800 area. He framed it as the level bulls need for momentum.

The live tape supports that focus. Binance showed BTC 2.24% below its 24-hour high during this run, so buyers had not reclaimed pressure.

CoinGecko put Bitcoin’s market value near $1.28 trillion. It also put total crypto market value near $2.27 trillion.

That makes Bitcoin roughly 56.5% of the crypto market. If BTC fails at resistance, the drag reaches most large-token portfolios.

What U.S. and EU investors should watch

For U.S. readers, this is a CPI setup before it is a simple Bitcoin story. Oil, the yen and ETF flows now sit in one trade.

For EU readers using MiCA-regulated venues or Dutch exchanges such as Bitvavo, the lesson is liquidity timing. A $1,000 BTC position moved about $22 lower from the 24-hour high to the run price. That is illustrative, not advice.

The next useful read is whether spot volume rises with price. If volume stays thin near $65,800, ETF demand may look better on paper than on the tape.

The clean test now

The market does not need a perfect macro backdrop to recover $65,800. It does need buyers to absorb oil-driven selling without leaning only on ETF headlines.

If BTC holds above the current low near $63,806 and retakes $65,800, the ETF bid gets another hearing. If it loses that low, the Hormuz trade stays in control.

Levels to watch next
1$63,806 is the live Binance 24-hour low from this run.
2$64,500 is the zone BTC lost after Monday's macro wobble.
3$65,391 is the live Binance 24-hour high from this run.
4$65,800 is the resistance area cited by traders in the Cointelegraph market read.
