Market context at 03:05 CET. Bitcoin traded at $65,173.73 on Binance, up 1.09% in 24 hours. The 24-hour range was $64,293.81 to $65,577.00, with $528.24 million in BTCUSDT spot turnover. Binance futures open interest was 104,125.733 BTC, or about $6.79 billion. The latest BTCUSDT funding rate was 0.006147%.
Bitcoin treasury sales show the debt risk
KULR’s July 24 SEC filing gives the cleanest evidence. The company sold roughly 333 BTC in open-market transactions and generated about $21.5 million in gross proceeds. It then used the net proceeds to repay the principal under a $20 million Coinbase Credit facility.
KULR said the move lowered interest expense and removed collateral and liquidation risk. That language matters. The company still reported about 760 BTC after the sale, so this was not an exit from its bitcoin plan. It was a balance-sheet trade.
An earlier quarterly filing showed how the debt built. KULR disclosed a $5 million March draw with a 7% loan fee and a $15 million May draw with a 7% yearly financing charge. Those costs made the BTC reserve less passive than the headline treasury number suggested.
Smarter Web removed a convert clock
Smarter Web used a different structure. Its July 23 RNS says the company repaid $11,698,540 to TOBAM about two weeks before maturity. The repayment came from selling exactly 177.8909127 BTC at an average price of $65,762.
The repayment also removed a potential 7,718,551-share issuance. Its January prospectus described the convert as a zero-coupon instrument due in August 2026. Holders had options tied to BTC, fiat value or shares. Early repayment took that choice off the table.
Smarter Web still said it held 2,700 BTC after the transaction. That reserve is large enough to keep the treasury story alive. The point is narrower. A maturity can still force management to choose between holding every coin and cleaning up the capital stack.

The real number is the thin margin
CryptoFocus combined both disclosures with live Binance pricing. The 510.8909127 BTC sold by the two companies was worth about $33.30 million at $65,173.73 per BTC. That was only 1.05 times the $31.7 million repayment load.
That comparison is useful because it converts a treasury story into a liquidity story. A sale worth 510.8909127 BTC sounds small beside daily global crypto volume of $43.05 billion from CoinGecko. It was still equal to 6.0% of live Binance BTCUSDT spot turnover during this run.
The same repayment load was only 0.47% of Binance BTCUSDT futures open interest. So this was not a market-wide stress event. It was a warning about how company-level leverage can matter even when the bitcoin market absorbs the coins easily.
Why U.S. traders should care this week
For U.S. traders, the useful read-through is not that every public bitcoin treasury is a forced seller. KULR and Smarter Web both kept material BTC reserves. The risk is more specific. Debt terms decide when a company can keep treating bitcoin as strategic inventory.
That makes the next filings more important than the next slogan. Investors should look for pledged BTC, financing fees, cure windows, nearby maturities and conversion-linked share counts. Those fields say more about sale risk than a headline reserve total.
The market backdrop adds pressure. BTC dominance was 56.44% in CoinGecko global data, while BTCUSDT funding stayed slightly positive. That means leveraged traders were still paying to hold long exposure as treasury companies showed a different kind of BTC supply.
