3The SEC filing says shareholder value and total Trust assets do not change because NAV per share rises proportionally.
4ETHA showed $5.43 billion in net assets and 384.36 million shares outstanding on iShares data around the filing.
Market context at 03.06 CEST. ETH traded at $1,862.46 on Binance, 1.06% below its 24-hour high and 0.72% above the low. Binance ETHUSDT spot turnover was $340.84 million. ETHUSDT futures open interest stood at 2.33 million ETH, worth about $4.34 billion. The latest funding rate was 0.0023%. Sources, Binance spot, Binance futures and CoinGecko.
BlackRock ETHA split changes the wrapper math
The SEC 8-K is direct. The sponsor approved a reverse split at a one-for-three ratio. ETHA shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when Nasdaq opens on Oct. 6.
The filing also draws the line investors need. The split decreases the number of shares and increases net asset value per share. It does not change shareholder investment value. It also does not change the aggregate value of the Trust’s assets.
That is why this is not a hidden inflow signal. It is a trading-unit reset. Holders should see fewer shares with a higher per-share price, not more ether backing the fund.
ETHA liquidity still gives the move weight
The iShares ETHA page listed $5.43 billion in net assets as of Aug. 3. It also showed 384.36 million shares outstanding as of Aug. 4 and a $14.15 NAV.
After a clean 1-for-3 reverse split, that share count falls to about 128.12 million. A $14.15 NAV becomes roughly $42.45. The closing price shown by iShares would move from $14.11 to about $42.33, before normal market moves.

The bigger comparison is liquidity. ETHA’s $5.43 billion asset base equals 2.42% of Ethereum’s $224.74 billion CoinGecko market cap. It is also 15.94 times Binance ETHUSDT spot turnover for the last 24 hours.
Ethereum traders get an optics date, not a catalyst
The live ETH tape was quiet during the filing window. ETH was up only 0.59% on Binance over 24 hours. CoinGecko put Ethereum at rank 2, with a market cap near $224.74 billion.
Derivatives positioning makes the ETF scale easier to read. Binance ETHUSDT open interest was about $4.34 billion at the live price. ETHA assets were 1.25 times that futures open interest. The fund is large enough to shape perception without changing supply.
For readers tracking BlackRock Ethereum ETF flows, the October date is the next operational checkpoint. It should not be confused with staking approval, fee changes or a fresh creation basket.
What U.S. and global holders should check next
The U.S. investor impact is practical. Fractional shares will not be issued, according to the filing. Any proportional fractional share is redeemed and paid in cash to the brokerage account of record. The 8-K says that may have tax consequences for that shareholder.
European holders using international brokers face the same first question. Check how the broker handles fractional ETF positions around Oct. 5. The value should be neutral, but cash-in-lieu treatment can create small tax or reinvestment effects.
This also helps separate ETHA from broader Ethereum ETF rotation. Flow data tells whether money enters or leaves. This filing tells how the existing share unit is repackaged.
The next market test sits in October
The main watchpoint is clean execution on Oct. 6. The share count should drop by two thirds. Per-share NAV should rise by roughly three times, after normal ether moves. Any mismatch would matter more than the split itself.
The second watchpoint is ETH liquidity into that date. If ETHA assets stay near $5.43 billion, compare that with futures open interest near $4.34 billion. The fund would remain larger than a visible ETH leverage gauge.
What to watch next
---
1Oct. 5 is the record date for the ETHA reverse split.
2Oct. 6 is the first expected split-adjusted trading day on Nasdaq.
3Broker cash-in-lieu handling matters for holders with fractional post-split positions.
4Live ETHA assets versus ETH futures open interest shows whether the ETF still outweighs leverage positioning.
Read it this way. The same-day market pickup made the filing visible, but the SEC document sets the terms. ETHA holders have one date to mark and one broker detail to check. They have no new ether exposure to price in.
