Market context at 01.06 CEST. SOL trades at $77.59 on CoinGecko data, about 0.5% below Binance’s 24-hour high of $77.95. Binance shows a $74.41 to $77.95 range and $136.6 million in SOLUSDT spot turnover. The SOLUSDT funding rate is 0.0038%, based on Binance futures data.
Solana SBI turns a chain choice into a bank sponsor
SBI’s English release says the collaboration will build an on-chain financial market from Japan. The core point is the structure. Solana Foundation is joining SBI R3 Japan beside SBI Holdings and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. That detail appears in the release and a Finance Magnates report republished by TradingView.
That makes the announcement different from a normal chain integration. SBI is linking Solana to a vehicle inside Japanese finance. The planned name, SBI Solana Global, also says the ambition clearly. Japan is the starting market, while Asia and global liquidity are the target. CryptoFocus covered a nearby Asia RWA theme in Progmat’s Avalanche migration, but this deal uses Solana and bank ownership.
What SBI Solana Global wants to build
The release lists five workstreams. They cover JPYSC and other stablecoins. They also include tokenized RWAs, cross-border settlement, institutional services and AI-agent payments. The company says it wants support across technology, issuance, distribution and settlement.
The open questions are still large. SBI has not published the Solana Foundation stake size, product launch dates or revenue targets. That limits how much investors can price today. Still, the design points toward financial plumbing rather than a consumer campaign.

The market test for SOL is liquidity, not slogans
CryptoFocus combines the SBI scope with live network and market data. Solana has about $4.89 billion in DeFi TVL on DeFiLlama chain data. That equals 10.8% of Solana’s $45.18 billion CoinGecko market cap. That ratio matters because the SBI story needs financial activity, not just brand recognition.
Solana DEX volume is the stronger live signal. DeFiLlama shows $1.77 billion in 24-hour Solana DEX volume, up 46.1% from the prior day. That is about 90.6% of CoinGecko’s reported SOL spot volume across markets. For a bank-led RWA and settlement pitch, that flow helps more than vague adoption language.
There is also a valuation limit. The same DEX figure equals only 3.9% of SOL’s market cap. The network is busy. It still needs regulated assets, issuers and distribution before the SBI plan becomes a balance-sheet story. That distinction also shaped our recent tokenized stocks coverage.
Why the Solana SBI deal matters overnight
The U.S. read-through is market structure. American traders are watching stablecoin law, ETF flows and tokenized securities. Japan already has a clearer legal path for some stablecoin and security-token activity. A Japanese bank-linked Solana venture can therefore become a live comparison for U.S. policy. That comparison matters before Washington finishes its own rulebook.
That does not mean SOL has a clean upside trigger. The announcement lacks a launch calendar. It also does not say whether SBI VC Trade, Bitbank or another SBI entity will distribute the first products. For now, traders can track two numbers. First, does SOL hold the $74.41 to $77.95 range? Second, does Solana DEX volume stay above $1.5 billion after the news cycle fades? The stablecoin angle also sits beside yesterday’s BNB payments catalyst.
CryptoFocus read
---
1The catalyst is bank-linked infrastructure, not a meme-driven SOL headline.
2The strongest number is $1.77 billion in Solana DEX volume over 24 hours.
3The biggest missing detail is the Solana Foundation equity stake size.
4The next test is whether SBI names launch dates or distribution channels.
