Tassat NENYA gives U.S. regional banks a direct route into stablecoin reserve management. The company behind Signature Bank’s former Signet network unveiled Project NENYA on July 23. It wants issuers to spread cash and tokenized high-quality liquid assets across more banks. That reduces reliance on a narrow group of large institutions. For U.S. readers, the story is less about another blockchain product and more about deposit competition. Stablecoin reserves already sit near $308.67 billion on DeFiLlama, so even small allocation changes can move bank balance-sheet math.
What to know
1Tassat announced Project NENYA for stablecoin reserve management on July 23, 2026.
2The platform is meant to connect regulated issuers with U.S. regional and midsize banks.
3CoinDesk says pilot activity is expected in early 2027, before a wider launch.
4DeFiLlama tracked $308.67 billion in stablecoins during this run.

Market context at 00.07 CEST. Bitcoin traded near $65,180 on Binance, 1.7% above the 24-hour low of $64,650. Binance showed $947.55 million in BTCUSDT spot turnover. BTCUSDT open interest stood at 104,456.804 BTC, worth about $6.81 billion. Sources: CoinGecko and Binance ticker data.

Tassat NENYA targets the reserve market

CoinDesk reported that Tassat is building Project NENYA for regional and midsize U.S. banks. The platform is designed as a shared market for stablecoin reserve placement. Issuers would allocate cash deposits and tokenized high-quality liquid assets across banks. Banks would compete for reserve deposits while monitoring price, liquidity and counterparty risk.

The Business Wire syndication says NENYA stands for Smart Reserve Management & Execution Engine. It describes the project as reserve infrastructure for regulated stablecoins. Tassat says the framework is meant to improve visibility across issuers and bank counterparties. The company expects the platform to go live in early 2027.

Reserve math is the real story

The current stablecoin base is already large enough to matter for banks. DeFiLlama showed $308.67 billion in tracked stablecoin supply during this run. USDT and USDC together accounted for about $256.83 billion. That means the two largest dollar tokens held 83.2% of the tracked market.

CoinDesk cited Citi’s earlier view that stablecoins could reach roughly $4 trillion by 2030. That would be 12.96 times the DeFiLlama total seen in this run. A one percent reserve slice at that scale would equal $40 billion. That is about 42.2 times Binance’s 24-hour BTCUSDT spot turnover in this run.

Why regional banks care about deposit flight

Tassat’s pitch lands because stablecoin reserve rules are becoming bank infrastructure rules. The U.S. Treasury said the GENIUS Act treats permitted payment stablecoin issuers as financial institutions for Bank Secrecy Act purposes. Treasury also said issuers must maintain sanctions compliance programs. That creates more demand for systems that can prove where reserves sit.

The U.S. hook is deposit concentration. If large issuers park reserves with only a few giant banks, smaller lenders miss a new source of balances. Tassat argues that broader reserve distribution can reduce liquidity risk on both sides. The test will be whether regulated issuers trust a shared market with meaningful balances.

This also links to recent crypto payment rails. Coinbase’s x402 work showed how payment use cases are moving from wallets to business operations. NENYA sits one layer below that user experience. It asks where the dollars backing those payments actually live.

What investors should watch next

The direct token trade is limited because Tassat has not announced a public token. The market signal is broader. Reserve management can affect stablecoin issuer costs, bank deposit competition and demand for tokenized Treasuries. It can also shape how U.S. banks compete with crypto-native custody providers.

For Dutch and EU readers checking the U.S. move after midnight, the comparison is MiCA. Europe has already pushed stablecoin issuers toward clearer reserve and redemption rules. U.S. projects such as NENYA show how banks may try to turn similar rules into deposit business. Bitvavo users and other euro investors should watch whether U.S. reserve tools pull more liquidity into dollar stablecoins.

The next concrete datapoints are pilot partners, issuer names and the first reserve assets listed on the platform. Without those, Project NENYA remains an infrastructure promise. With them, it becomes a visible test of whether regional banks can win stablecoin balances before the market scales again.

Why it matters
1A 1% reserve allocation at a $4 trillion market would equal $40 billion.
2That amount is 42.2 times this run's Binance BTCUSDT spot turnover.
3USDT and USDC still make up 83.2% of tracked stablecoin supply.
4The early 2027 pilot window is the next hard test for Tassat.
