Market context at 02.20 CEST. Bitcoin traded at 64,972.73 dollars on Binance, 1.87% lower over 24 hours. The 24-hour range was 64,650.00 to 66,313.14 dollars, with 955.3 million dollars in BTCUSDT spot turnover. DeFiLlama tracked 309.0 billion dollars in stablecoins, including USDC at 74.1 billion dollars.
MoonPay Discover adds checkout reach
Bitcoin.com News reported that U.S. Discover cardholders can now buy and sell crypto through MoonPay. The report cites MoonPay’s banking partnerships team. It names Discover as the next card rail after Visa and Mastercard.
MoonPay’s support page lists Discover credit and debit cards as U.S.-only and instant for on-ramp purchases. That page matters because it turns the announcement into an operating detail. Users do not need to wait for a separate wallet upgrade if their app already relies on MoonPay checkout.
The company’s public number is also useful. Bitcoin.com News says MoonPay works with more than 500 enterprise partners and serves more than 30 million customers. That implies an average reach of about 60,000 customers per enterprise integration. It is a rough ratio, but it shows why a small checkout change can travel quickly.
Why the U.S. rail matters
Card access is still uneven in U.S. crypto. Banks can decline crypto-related payments. Fees vary by card type, and some users fall back to ACH or wallet balances. Adding Discover does not solve those issues by itself. It does remove one more reason a checkout attempt can fail before a user reaches the blockchain.
The timing fits a wider payment shift. MoonPay already supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, bank transfers and regional rails, according to its support documentation. The new rail moves crypto buying closer to ordinary online payments, even while the assets behind the checkout remain volatile.

Stablecoins show the other side
A card rail gets the user into the transaction. Stablecoins often carry the settlement or wallet side after that. DeFiLlama data put tracked stablecoin supply at 309.0 billion dollars during this run. USDT held 59.2% of that total, while USDC held 24.0%.
That is the useful comparison for U.S. readers. Discover expands the front door, but liquidity is still concentrated in a few dollar tokens after the user enters. RLUSD, for example, was about 0.52% of tracked stablecoin supply in the same snapshot. The payment layer is broadening faster than the stablecoin layer is diversifying.
BTC liquidity gives the same warning from another angle. Binance data showed 955.3 million dollars in BTCUSDT spot turnover. Bitcoin sat near the bottom of its 24-hour range. More card access does not erase market risk. It makes execution easier when buyers already want exposure.
What global readers should watch
For European readers, the direct effect is limited. Discover support is listed as U.S.-only. The indirect point is still relevant. MoonPay says it has MiCA authorization in the European Union, while U.S. card-network support is expanding at the same time. That puts regulated fiat access, stablecoins and wallet distribution in the same competitive lane.
For U.S. users, the test is conversion, not the announcement headline. Watch whether partner wallets show fewer failed card payments and whether Discover stays priced close to Visa and Mastercard. A wider checkout menu is useful only if banks, processors and crypto apps let the transaction finish.

1The real change is checkout redundancy, not a new crypto product.
2The original calculation is 30 million users across 500 partners, or about 60,000 users per partner.
3USDC is about 24.0% of tracked stablecoin supply, based on DeFiLlama.
4The next datapoint is whether MoonPay partners report higher U.S. card approval rates.
