Satsuma bitcoin treasury investors have voted to wind down the London-listed company, sell its bitcoin and return capital. The vote matters beyond one small stock. It shows how a public bitcoin wrapper can fail while bitcoin itself trades near 66,600 dollars. At today's price, Satsuma's remaining 668 BTC is worth about 44.5 million dollars. That is far below the estimated 75.7 million dollar cost base reported by Bitcoin.com.
What you need to know

2The company says it will prepare to close trading activities and sell its bitcoin.
3Bitcoin.com reports 668 BTC remain, worth about $44.5 million at this run's Binance price.
4The listing cancellation is expected around 14 September 2026, with payments targeted by 28 September.

Market context at 02.05 CEST. Bitcoin traded at $66,606.79 on Binance spot data. That was 0.52% below its 24-hour high of $66,956.15 and 2.15% above its open. Binance BTCUSDT spot turnover was $1.23 billion. Futures open interest stood at 104,203 BTC, worth about $6.94 billion, according to Binance futures data. The last BTCUSDT funding rate was 0.003911%.

Satsuma bitcoin treasury vote ends the wrapper trade

Satsuma Technology told investors that both special resolutions passed at its general meeting. The capital-return vote received 7,869,182,042 votes in favour, against 813,703,719 votes. That is 90.63% support.

The board said it had approved immediate steps to close trading activities and sell the company's bitcoin. The same notice sets the B-share entitlement record time at 6 p.m. on 3 August. A UK High Court directions hearing is expected on 13 August. Confirmation is planned for 8 September.

The key point is not that one company is leaving the market. It is that shareholders chose liquidation instead of waiting for another treasury-stock premium. For public bitcoin vehicles, that is the cleaner test.

The 668 BTC sale is small for market depth, large for shareholders

Bitcoin.com reports that Satsuma holds 668 BTC. Its estimated acquisition cost is near $75.66 million. At $66,606.79 per BTC, that stack is worth about $44.49 million. The implied paper loss is about $31.17 million, or 41.2% against cost.

CryptoFocus calculates that 668 BTC equals 3.59% of Binance BTCUSDT spot volume over the past 24 hours. In dollar terms, the stack equals 3.61% of that pair's $1.23 billion spot turnover. It also equals 0.64% of Binance BTCUSDT futures open interest.

That does not imply a forced market shock by itself. It does show why the equity wrapper mattered more than the raw BTC size. A sale of 668 BTC is digestible for a deep bitcoin market. The stock loss is not small for holders who bought the treasury story.

Why U.S. investors should care about the liquidation

The U.S. hook is direct. American investors can now choose between spot bitcoin ETFs, direct custody and public companies that promise amplified exposure. Satsuma shows the third route carries board decisions, listing risk and operating costs. It also adds shareholder votes on top of bitcoin price risk.

That is why today's Bitcoin ETF flow story matters next to this one. ETF holders take fund-fee and market-price risk. They do not depend on a corporate treasury premium staying alive. Treasury stocks can trade below their asset value when confidence breaks.

The warning also fits the wider CryptoFocus coverage of Twenty One Capital's leadership change and earlier bitcoin treasury cashflow pressure. The common thread is governance. Bitcoin is liquid, but a listed company decides when shareholders actually touch that value.

Watch the court date and BTC liquidity

The next concrete checkpoint is the 3 August record time. After that, the 13 August court directions hearing and 8 September confirmation hearing should tell investors whether the timetable holds. The listing cancellation is pencilled in for 14 September.

The market checkpoint is simpler. If Satsuma sells gradually, the sale should be easy to absorb beside current BTCUSDT liquidity. If several treasury firms exit at once, the better signal will be market depth. Watch falling open interest, weaker spot books and wider discounts to net asset value.
