Market context at 04.14 CEST. SAFE traded at $0.0909 on Binance futures, 10.57% higher over 24 hours. The 24-hour range was $0.07963 to $0.09150. Safe smart accounts show usage outrunning revenue
The new Safe Q2 report gives the story its tension. Usage rose again, but revenue moved the other way. The report says Q2 transfer volume reached $39.35 billion across all chains, up 8% year on year. It also says April was the busiest month in Safe history, with 55.4 million transactions.
That matters because Safe is not just a niche multisig wallet anymore. Its accounts sit behind consumer apps, treasury operations and security workflows. Safe says more than 63 million accounts had been created by quarter end. The Block flagged the record quarter in its July 29 readback. The Foundation published the report at 07:00 UTC.
Consumer apps carried the transaction count
The report points to two large sources of activity. World App represented 52% of Q2 transaction volume, while Polymarket represented 35.7%. That is a useful split. It means the record count came less from old treasury multisigs and more from consumer-facing crypto products.
Safe still sits close to institutional security use. DeFi United coordinated about $300 million of ETH and stablecoin donations through a Safe after the Kelp DAO attack. The Ethereum Foundation also used a Safe multisig for treasury sales this quarter. That fits recent CryptoFocus coverage of Ethereum governance.
The security angle is sharper after a rough year for wallets and signing flows. CryptoFocus recently covered how Ethereum and Solana hacks exposed separate code and key risks. Safe is trying to sell the opposite idea: programmable accounts that can check a transaction before value leaves.

The stablecoin base makes the report bigger
The Foundation says about $1 of every $48 in global stablecoin supply sits in a Safe account. DeFiLlama showed $307.3 billion of stablecoin supply during this run. That implies roughly $6.4 billion of stablecoins held in Safe accounts.
Safe’s $39.35 billion Q2 transfer volume is therefore about 6.1 times that implied stablecoin base. On a rough activity view, the reported 130 million transactions equal about $303 of transfer volume per transaction. That is not a fee model by itself. It shows why usage can look large while revenue still falls.
That is the real read for SAFE holders. The token was up nearly 10% on CoinGecko over 24 hours. Its market cap was still only about $68.7 million. Binance futures open interest was about $1.4 million, small beside the account network’s reported stablecoin footprint.
Why global users should care before earnings matter
For U.S. and global users, this is less about one wallet brand and more about account abstraction. A smart account can add policies, approvals and checks around a wallet. That can lower signing risk without asking every user to become a security analyst. Usage is moving from treasury controls into mass-market transaction flows, where one broken signature can still drain funds.
Safenet is the next test. Safe says the beta had processed 455,646 transaction checks by quarter end and had six genesis validators. The Foundation’s Safenet progress review says the next priority is moving from observation to onchain enforcement.
There is also a regulatory angle. If stablecoins and tokenized deposits keep moving into mainstream apps, wallet controls become part of compliance and treasury operations. That is why this story belongs beside broader Bitcoin custody debates, even though the token in focus is SAFE.
What to watch next
---
1Whether Safenet checks move from beta alerts to enforceable onchain controls.
2Whether Q3 revenue rebounds while transaction counts keep rising.
3Whether World App and Polymarket stay above 80% of activity combined.
4Whether SAFE open interest grows beyond today's roughly $1.4 million base.
